1 map pugs are a great way to ensure you play duku 95% of the time instead of 45%.


admins that actually enforce rules are all you need to significantly improve the quality of pugging. Ive always been a fan of shorter time limits to get in the server, but in all honesty if admins would just enforce the 10 minute rule that's already in effect it wouldnt even be an issue.

players say they are for strict enforcement of the rule, however most of the time someone complains when another player is banned

When the rules are cut and dry, at least the complaints don't hold any weight. Complaints will happen regardless of the rules and enforcement.

No mic rule just needs to be enforced better. If someone does NOT tag nomic and they don't use a mic, 24h pug banned. If someone tags nomic and they use a mic, 12h pug ban. If you see 4 no mics, do like I do and say "fuck that" to puggin with those scrubs.

Click in time of 5 minutes would be crazy hard to enforce right now. I say take a no-exceptions approach to a 10m rule, or lower to 7m and enforce it like it is(n't) currently.

I've commented on a 1 map ictf pug before but usually just as a joke about 24/7 duku. I would definitely play it as getting a shit team who has terrible comms and bad english for two maps sucks. If both teams like how the pug is going there is nothing stopping them from agreeing to play a second map if people have time/want to.

I like the random map idea, but what is stopping players from mapvoting once they get into the server if the majority agreed they didn't want to play the random'd Sprinta and force vote Duku instead?

Also please add 1v1 pug options. Being a west coast player there are rarely pugs after 9-10 PST time and this option would let others know someone is trying to play at that time.


In b4 admins don't make any of these positive changes

I shouldn't have spammed him but it really doesn't matter what you message to some of the people in charge if your not "friends" with them. This happens way too often when people message an admin. You'd get a similar anti productive response too. I feel like some of the admins try to flex their muscles too much for whatever reason and it is only going to hurt this game.

Not trying to be negative here but I don't understand the disrespect from the admins of GU. No changes, complete bias and rarely do many of them even pug or play UT anymore.. *ahem* PACO.. *ahem*..

I see more effort, good ideas and an attitude that is overall positive for the game from Anguis than I have been seeing from PACO and friends. WTF is going on.. I can't be the only one who see's the problems with GU.. or maybe people just don't care

let's not get carried away, this thread is only two days old. I also get the impression that you spammed paco more than 3 times to provoke that response. not to mention it was 3am his time, so your implication by including his logging off irc is ridiculous. if you want to bash admins, hinata has provided many helpful threads for that purpose. imo try to keep this thread constructive

kud, no disrespect but that is the typical response. My reputation with some of the admins isn't good from the past and it is because some of them judge character on presumptions they have from the past.

That chat log was presented as is..sent it three times right away because it is usually ignored. I actually have zero problems with any admins of GU.. but just because I am not bitter towards them doesn't mean I don't think they can be doing a much better job.

A rejuvenated GLOBAL UT99 community was created by PACO and friends but recently because GU has become such a powerhouse in UT99 competition their has been a developing problem. Rule's are biasedly enforced and not consistent, many feel there are admins that don't listen at all and that many of the so-called important admins are too busy not playing UT99 to even notice the negative trend.

Why not hire up a few more admins or have a cycling form of leadership in this case? I wouldn't want the governor of my state to make all the executive decisions if he wasn't actually invested in his job.

My take on it..

It's very hard for admins to enforce this unless someone complains about it during the pug, For a few reasons
a) People tell porky pies after the pug XX PLAYERS DIDNT USE HIS/HER MIC .. XX PLAYER did you use your mic? Yes ofc.... WHO DO YOU BELIEVE??
b) "JAJA PLAYER" has bad english and didnt speak very much.. but did speak a small amount where he/she could
c) A lot of new players come by and they get a couple of pugs leeway to get the jist of how things work and how teamspeak/pugs work.. work past their shyness etc, I've seen several occasions where people have been whining and qqing to ban people on their very first pug which = stupid
d) Looking at why the rule is there at all? So the captains know whatsup during the picking of the teams.. so should the guy who's picked last for the red team be exempt? it didnt effect the captains in a negative way and its usually just people looking for an excuse to why they lost that they want someone banned.

Limiting nomics shouldnt be an option.. in all honesty its really not a big problem at all, very few pugs have more than 1 or 2 nomics and most have 10 mics in them.. Theres really no point changing anything imo.

I dislike this.. joining a pug is a committment, if you don't have the time for a full pug hop on a public server and shoot the guns or .j itdm,
Also don't like the possibility of splitting ctf options ..having 5 people idling in ictf and 5 in 1mapictf.

10mins rule
I honestly don't get why everyones so ban horny over this, BAN EM ALL FOR 3DAYS .. We're here to play the game and pug, the worst offenders get banned relentlessly and repeatedly .. sometimes first time offenders get let off for various reasons first ever pug etc.. We try to keep a kind of record on people to see the repeat guys.. and they get dealt with more severely..
Generally im not going to idle in a server waiting to ban people the second it ticks passed 10minutes, if someone reaches out and complains about it then ill look into it, which i think goes for most admins.. they wont do anything until someone has a complaint or a problem over something If you guys dont bring it to our attention nothing will be done, which i dont think is unreasonable..
Ok for improving the rule..
The problem = People getting impatient while waiting for that last player or 2 to get in
A proposal .. The 10mins and not in rule =ban remains perhaps enforced a bit better, 6h first offenders.. 12h .. 24 etc etc .. but after 5 or 7 minutes if that one player is still not in either ts or ut .. the other players are free to search for a substitute and the late player loses his spot in the pug , Generally people subbing in are much faster at getting into the server, If the teams then need adjusting then so be it..captains should work this out between them selves, if said late player returns within the 10minute period they remain free.. if they return afterwards ..they be gone..
Personally i wouldnt be oppose to a 7minute rule, but i guess people should be careful what they wish for with this :)

Admins do great things around here. With that said, some of the stuff talked about in this thread LITERALLY takes minutes to implement. I think the only thing I've heard against 1-map pugs is that there will be less 2-map pugs. So what? People are playing. Isn't that the point of this whole thing. If the problem with enforcing rules is that you can't enforce them "24/7" then it's time to look into adding more qualified pug admins across all time zones.
