I was recently banned for a swastika I accidentally sent out (I downloaded a smiley script ages ago which had among other things a heart, mario and a dragon). I meant to click the heart, to highlight someone (it says "I love you <nick>" under it). Was immediately banned by I believe kylewins (not 100% sure about this though), for 12 days. I pm'ed him and explained the situation, explained how it was accident and that I would remove the swastika from my smiley script right away so that it couldn't and wouldn't happen again. He asked me if I'd learned my lesson - I did - he removed my ban.
Played a pug, after which rain re-banned me, adding 2 days on top of the initial 12, for supposed 'evading'. I explained to him how I wasn't evading at all, that I was using the same irc same auth same everything as before, and that I had actually been unbanned. He pretty much ignored everything I said about that, about the supposed evading.
Now the ban has already expired, so none of this really even matters anymore, and I even understood the ban being put back, especially after I hadn't been too friendly to Chica (sorry again love) about it. I felt like 12 days was a bit harsh considering the stuff that gets said in #ipug all the time, and the stuff that gets done during pugs all the time, and that punishing me that harshly for what I explained to be an honest mistake, to me fell into the category of 'symbol politics' (if that is how you would say that in English).
Anywho, I just wanted to make a note here about how I felt Rain adding the 2 days for 'evading' - when there was 0 evading taking place whatsoever - was a bit weird. He's never made much of an effort to hide his dislike for me, and I just.. I feel like I need to post this here as some weird sort of insurance, a 'for future reference' sort of thing, if you will. This goes in line with what especially MP^5 has said: that if an admin dislikes you, you have to be especially careful about what you do or say because they will use whatever they can to ban you.
Again: I can understand the ban for the [accidental] swastika (harsh as I may find the 12 day duration), but if a fellow admin of yours unbans me (the one who placed the initial ban), how is that evading?
Just wanted to put this out there. Make a note of it.
