As some might know, this was a topic discussed over the last few weeks.
I will try to clarify a few questions that have been in some way or another unclear or unanswered from my point of view.
Who are the people that are really in charge of iPug?
The list of iPug admins is: humpty, kud, pete, nob, paco, nick, rain, death, sponge, somar, detox, vitrae.
These are the top dogs and their decisions should not be contested. Although Paco claims tyranny over his realm, most admin decisions are in fact the result of a democratic consensus. This however should not encourage players to whine. If the decision comes from one of the admins, the courteous thing to do is to accept.
Why are there more @'s than people in charge? What power do these people have?
Apparently Paco answered this question in a previous thread. When someone has been recognized to have contributed to the support or progress of the Unreal Tournament community in general and Global Unreal community in particular, they get rewarded with an @ as a mean of saying thank you. These people do not really have administrative power over the iPug channel, although they should in my opinion have the power to temporarily solve conflicts when no admin is online.
What about the half-ops? What power do these people have?
I actually learnt this the hard way when being demoted. Half-ops are supposed to be role models. They are those that players should look up to and aspire to become. These people do not really have any power over the iPug channel, not even if there isn't any admin or op online. The best course of action in case of conflict is to take note of the occurrence and PM an admin when you see one online. Do not try to hero it as seeing that this is not your role. In real life most heroes end up dead anyway.
I hope i have helped someone else in clarifying these points. My own fate would have been different if someone had taken the time to explain them to me before.
