blue team mapvote time limit.

Postby torch » Sun Jan 15, 2012 9:21 am

been talking about a possible time limit for the blue team to pick a map. if they do not pick in time, the red team gets to pick both maps. either 10 or 15 minutes has been discussed just wondering peoples thoughts on this before we actually enforce it. just another rule to hopefully make pugs get moving quicker since between captains and map picking they can take up to 30 minutes to start.

just give your feedback on the rule. if you like it or not/ time limits/ ect.

Shouldn't take longer than 5 minutes tbh.. and even that seems generous to me.

I think if they take more than 15 minutes from the end of the picks than the map choices should swap rather than red team getting both. If I'm blue captain and my first two picks aren't on TS yet, I'm not picking a map yet lol. I know it's frustrating but sometimes it's out of the captains control.

change the rule to "pug must start in 10 minutes or less"
if your players aren't getting on fast enough to weigh in on the map, bitch at them and hopefully they'll take the clue for next pug.

it doesn't necessarily bug me either way, tbh.

People take forever to get onto TS. There is always 1 nutcase that doesn't join TS until 10 mins after teams are picked. TBH, you can possibly make a rule that you have to get on ts as soon as you join a pug (or as soon as the captains are set, start heading to TS). You can idle in the general channel on TS but just get on. You will hear when people start switching channels. I don't know if this idea is realistic, but hey, at least people can't use "I wasn't on ts when you were picking the map" excuse.

Then again, people will still end up taking forever to switch channels so it doesn't necessarily fix the issue entirely. :|

also some people like to consult with their team rather than dictating a map:D
letting red pick first is fine imo , no need to forfeit blues map pick , end of the day its just wanting to get things moving quicker rather than spoiling peoples fun:D

Strictly enforce the 10 min rule (old 7 min rule) and it will all go away. We have about 20 ops in the channel so it shouldn't be difficult. After two weeks of enforcing the rule people will recognize that pugs start on time and they will get in the server on on TS immediately.

It's more people deciding to take shits, walk dogs, smoke bowls and cigs, etc, as a pre-pug warmup that are taking forever. And b0w0w/kappa/sponge tryin to sell TV's outta their '82 tacomas. ARIBA ARIBA  Image

jokes aside, 10 minutes of "where the fuck is he?" should be an immediate ban, even if they are back on the 11th minute. TS and UT combined take under 1 minute to load on the slowest comp.

I think captains need to get ideas for maps as soon as they captain. You all know who's in the pug and you can probably guess how the teams are going to turn out.

every time you're late, you lose playing privileges for one pug. basically, you don't get banned, but someone can have your spot in a pug before it's started. we should be encouraging people to play. banning is usually more of a punishment for everyone else who wants to play. this is the best possible rule because people will be encouraged to play just to spite some other asshole. win win.

The idea was to remove bans and let rule breakers play as long as there's no one else to fill the pug.
example: I show up to a pug 17 minutes after teams were picked. The next time I pug, someone that wants to play but didn't make it into the pug can have my spot.
