Hi,

Just because there was another topic being clogged by this i posted it here

I have a life, but am in work and have had nothing to do since 5pm... so

here is a split of the ipug demographic for the past 2 days

5 5 0
5 2 3

7 2 1
6 1 3
6 4 0
6 2 2
9 1 0
6 3 1
6 2 2
5 4 1
8 2 0
afternoon 28th, day start

I triple checked the ones with repeat numbers and as far as i can say i didn't double count

As you can see there are 16 majority euro pugs and 17 majority NA pugs of 6 or more players

however it's also interesting to note that 12/16 of the euro pugs had south american(mexico or below) players in them

there were also pugs with eastern euro and IL players however this was only 5-6 and i'm not counting again -.-

as things stand for pugging if there was a split server rule then 5 pugs would have been played on a uk server, maybe a few more for 50-50 NA/EU pugs

with more activity for euro players this balance would go up and i'd expect to see more EU players pugging

then the balance between SA and eastern euro/israel would eventually tip the balance seeing a split between uk and ny being used, as you would naturally use the NY server if the pug contained south american players, the same logic is used when there are high pinging euros or israelis

NB: i only posted this as a guide to show people the current split, i'm not suggesting/asking for anything more and have already made my views on this pretty clear

Actually you're wrong

My post shows that NY servers offer the fairest and most central location for the community

My opinions aside, i only made the post to demonstrate this and give background for anyone who is interested

no matter if that's no-one -.-

No harm in presenting stats, everyone can draw their own conclusions as to what they do or don't mean, but knowledge is power and these stats are an insight into the current iPUG demographic, nice one for compiling them TC

What about the west coast american players who ping the same as the euros? We'd ping much higher than you guys do right now if we played on UK servers

Ping is another matter

some european players ping 80-100+ to uk servers

looking at clanbase isn't a good way of finding pings, since this is with 35 TR

100 TR can easily lower ping by 20ms - so really a proper test has never been done

and may never be done

Global means we have a global community. As already stated in this thread, NYC are the FAIREST location when factoring all locations for player-bases around the globe (ie. West Coast Americans, Euros, Latinos, etc) I don't understand how this concept of it being fairest for an all around basis is so hard to grasp, especially when it's been explained at least 500 times at this point.

It's not global, it's skewed towards america and western europe

For example, if the situation was reversed you might have

UK servers

americans/canadians(less people from the west coast)
people from all over europe and isreal
the odd guy from south/central america

this would be the opposite of what you have now, people from west coast or south americas would be few and far between

and the proposition would be to inc new york servers to attract more of these players to the community

ofc some people want euro servers for wars, which is another matter entirely

even if things changed now, the people east of poland who a euro server could have attracted have mostly gone, there would be more players but not a massive influx of people at this late stage

but if you want to spread things and make it 'global' then this is a good way to try ;( which is why i proposed it -.-

since a higher tickrate means the server updates more often, you have less of a delay in between new packets

the f6 drop from 30 TR to 100 TR was about 20ms so this made sense to me

but i don't know

20 ping is a difference maker. Look at how many people went from zero to hero when all the servers were moved to the northeast.
