Are we short on servers? I stopped paying for one of mine because it was taken offline, assumed we didn't need them.

There's not enough for more than 2 pugs going off at the same time as match time paco from the you kay.

it worked out as rain was kind enough to reset one of the five reserved for the 3 early matches to let us play our last-minute tdm warm up

#iPug is a NYC based pugging community, I feel it completely unnecessary for me to list every rule as to why it is - if you're really curious, I'm sure you can look up numerous threads explaining why.

Riven, you ping what in a NYC server? 120 tops? I also ping 100-120 in every #ipug server. I know it sucks but if you incorporate UK servers into #ipug than west coast players among some would ping around 200 and the community would be called Europe Unreal.

the only reason we use US servers is because the guy who wrote newnet is from this community

without tim this scene would likely be as active as the euro clan scene right now

the arguement about east coast+sa players is flawed, there are as many or MORE players from isreal and eastern europe and old europe who just don't want to/didn't come to play here

i can also attest, newnet is perfectly playable at 500+ ping

it's not that people CAN'T play on a euro server, they just wouldn't

no one (should be) doubting the work put in by people to make #ipug the success that has been, but before newnet even #ipug was in decline, activity grew steadily for months as soon as the first beta was used in pugs, even before then people were excited about newnet

The euro iCTF scene suffered from terrible admining, plus clanbase offered very little flexibility in how the season could be managed and formatted

cups and leagues hosted outside of CB were smaller and more specialised, they didn't have the means to grow into anything bigger

there was no growth anywhere, only attrition

making it a global scene straight away and sucessfully putting a pug channel or linked pug onto quakenet would have brought in players from italy, poland, russia, isreal, estonia, hungary and a lot more players from the uk, nl, belgium, pt, spain and germany than the scene actually ended up with

i know there was some effort put into making this GG channel more visible through advertisment on QN, at this point the chance to bring in these players is probably long lost

still, it was the admin's desicion to do this and it's clear they thought it was the right thing to do

TL;DR just don't make this community suffer from the same inflexibility that cb did
