Light Em Up

I had a bunch of footage saved up from recent nw.CTF PUGs and scrims that I've been FRAPSing, so rather than wasting it all I figured I'd make a quick video before clearing out my hard drives. The footage isn't anything special, just some OK frags and decent CTF teamwork, but stick around for the blooper reel at the end as I think you'll enjoy it.

If you have any feedback, no matter how small, I would appreciate it as I'm always trying to improve my videos. One thing I struggled with a bit on this video was how to balance the levels between the soundtrack and the captured audio (UT/ts3). The raw captured audio is already unbalanced with the ts3 being much louder than the UT audio (especially certain players...I'm looking at you blz). I think that's something I could improve in the future, but I'm not sure if viewers would prefer to have the ts3 audio in the foreground or the soundtrack. Let me know your opinions. Thanks!

That was a fun video :D some clutch looking returns and that pick up near the end of first part also cool. Not that I can really judge what is clutch and what not ofc xD

I like how you added the TeamSpeak commentary... normally those get left out the video. I think you got importance of sound right soundtrack>ts>ut. Soundtrack defines the video, ts is a fun extra.

The part @ 4 mins "OHHH FUCK. I'm so bad. Hold that for me I'm just going to.... hahaha" was best@ut.

Sly whisper(imitating n1ne) "I think he's still behind guys". I was hoping that was going to be in it and you didn't disappoint. Good times.

haha awesome vid. these are the types of things that make me want to get involved and play more weapons. p4ce piston was too goot and the ts recordings bring the video to life.

What a clusterfuck at 4min marker  5:30 and onwards was hilarious - I would say only thing missing was some circus music in background haha

btw What did you use for the video editing? I have some old sick demo footages from like 2009-2010 that I'm trying to get onto some videos one of these days, but it feels like such a drag.

Thanks everyone! I figured the blooper reel would go over well. My name is mess for a reason.

@harsh - I recorded all of the footage in-game with FRAPS, then edited/rendered the footage with Song Vegas. Overlay stuff is done with Photoshop then added to Vegas. It's definitely a lot of work to make videos, but the most enjoyable part (for me anyways) is the editing. Footage hunting sucks because it's nothing but time-consuming demo-watching, sometimes all for naught, but the end product usually makes it all worth it. I'm generally too impatient though, which is why most of my videos have low production value. I just can't force myself to spend the days/weeks/months editing, tweaking, and fine-tuning a video like I should. I typically get to a certain point and say fuck it and upload it, despite having a ton of unfinished ideas I haven't yet implemented.

Doesn't using fraps affect your gaming? I have to remove all variables that would negatively impact my game. I don't even demo unless I HAVE to.

This video fully encompasses the awesomeness of UT, you couldn't have done a better job imo. Decent footage involving frags that actually impact the game, passionate ts audio, great music synching with the video, and a hilarious blooper reel which should be in every video from now on. and I like how you went slomo at some parts where the music slowed down to really make the flow of the video match the song, great stuff. Could have went with some motion blur or something during the slomo to really give you that slomo feel. I think your choice of first song is spot on as well.

I don't know if I'd call that last ranel clip a blooper on your part tho considering you were only one covering with the lead with 12s left... more like a clueless team that wasn't there to help you. Still trying to wrap my head around that  I'd be irate. Anyway great movie

Aww that sucks, DREW.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not really sure why that is though. Is there a setting that I'm missing or is it because there's acknowledged third party content (music) in the video?

I'm not sure either, ran into the same problem with the last cod video I uploaded. It must be some setting we're overlooking since I had already fixed a music copyright issue before putting mine up. Maybe it's at that point when changing music the setting is automatically changed?
