Greetings Ladies and not so Gentlemen!
I am pleased to announce the first of many 2013 GlobalUnreal Tournament..
After taking into consideration the comments in the thread, the team has reconsidered the January lineup. 1v1 IG wasn't exciting enough so we decided to up the ante to LMS. Yes, you read it correctly.. Last Man Standing but not just LMS. Team LMS.. but not just Team LMS.. MULTI TEAM LMS! (MTLMS)
Background Information:With war, politics and deception scourging the GlobalUnreal terrain, the houses that make up the land are solely trying to survive. The smallfolk, knights and lords are all in the same boat with a staggering amount of arrows pointed at their collective heads. With the castles burned, the walls crumbling and the wells poisoned, the sole objective is to ride out the storm and stay ALIVE. Standing in between you and safety are the self-serving rival houses who are also focused on self-preservation. A hero can win a battle but a coward can live to see the end of a war.
What will you be on Sunday January 6th, 2013?
Entry Information:We will be hoping for 32 (96+ people) teams to enter, however the sooner you signup, the higher the likelihood that you will secure a spot in the tournament. There will be no salary, draft or restrictions. You pick a team (of friends or mercenaries), and you enter. Lots of talk about clans etc. but instead of calling these teams or clans, for this tournament we are going to go
ye Olde Medieval and be representing Houses and rocking Sigils. There will be a thread made for people looking for a team and you can form teams that way.
Max # of players per team: 4
Min # of players per team: 3
The first 10-16 team entries guarantee themselves a sigil created by Chica. Example of House SMASH:
The tournament is slated to start at 3:30pm EST on Sunday January 6th, 2013. Tardy teams risk losing their spot. Entrants should set aside 3-4 hours if they plan on being the Last (wo)Men Standing (looking at you Ricky boy
).

There are twelve maps on the maplist and four teams per match. mrgrins will randomly pick two maps from his hat for each heat. In the finals he will pick five.
Color SelectionThe team with the highest amount of kills from the previous round will decide all of the team colors in their heat. Colors will be randomized in the first round.
RoundsIf there are 32 teams, there will be four rounds of iTLMS played (32-16-8-4). The top two teams from each group will qualify for the next round. How are teams and performances measured?
Point Distribution1st: 4pts
2nd: 2pts
3rd: 1pt
4th: 0pts
A map win all but guarantees qualification for the next round unless a team drops a total goose egg on the other map. If teams are tied ingame or in the standings, the tiebreakers will be as follows: Most kills, Efficiency, Player high kills on a team. If it's still tied for standings, a 5 minute, 2 life per player map will commence to settle which team advances.
Finals Map Selection:mrgrins will crumple small pieces of paper with the maplist mapnames and place them into a hat. He will then select the maps and the order that they will be played in via livestream.
http://www.twitch.tv/globalunrealtvThe first team to two map wins, wins the tournament (maximum of 5 maps played in the finals).
*NO ONE KNOWS WHAT KIND OF HAT IT WILL BE.. TOURNAMENT MYSTERY THAT NOT EVEN A HARDLY BOY COULD SOLVE*
Initial Groupings and Bracket PathAll randomized. If you have a problem with that, you can let me know about it and I'll ignore you.
Demos/Server Crashing/Cheating/Glitching/Aliasing etc.Reference the rules of the most recent for information on these topics.
TeamLMS Kill DisplayIn the current version of TeamLMS that we use, kills are not displayed and this could be problematic for several reasons. In the event that a game does not go to stats, there could be problems determining tiebreakers. Additionally, it will give mrgrins less to talk about (not that he should have any problems with that), but a kill display would give more insight into a match.
I don't know how difficult it would be to code, however it would be very useful for this tournament and future iCTF tiebreaker matches. If anyone can contribute on this front, please let me know.
Overall thoughts and remarks on the tournament..This tournament is setup to be a fun and competitive tournament to get us through the two month iCTF offseason. It's not an elitist tournament and players of all skill levels are encouraged to join with teams or as free agents. You don't need to shoot 50acc to stay alive
, just need a nice pair of running shoes. There will be lamers and llammas but that's part of the beauty of LMS. Embrace it and hone your LMS skills. The goal is to get 96+ players through the gate (32 teams). Signup early to ensure a spot in the tournament and
SPREAD THE WORD so that we have more than enough participants.
The tournament will have a website page like KOTR (
http://www.globalunreal.com/KOTR/), however team entries will be done on the forums. A player must be signed up on
http://www.globalunreal.com to be eligible to play in this tournament. This tournament will be a Texas-Sized appetizer for the upcoming KOTR and Global.iCTF season.
