KING OF THE RING #3 MAPLIST DISCUSSION!

I'll start the post off by saying that signups for KOTR.III and Global.iCTF.III will be opening in the next few days! KOTR.III will be going off on February 17th (Sunday @ 3:30pm EST) and S3 teams will be drafted on February 24th. Stay tuned..




















Map Notes: Viridian has been removed from KOTR.III. While it played decent in the last tournament, it was a bit congested for 10 players and much better suited to 2v2v2v2 iTDM. Replacing Viridian is the classic: Malevolence. Liandri will also be getting replaced (was in the first 2 KOTR and could return in the future), and the map that replaces it will be decided by YOU! Yes.. YOU. I will be running a poll for the next 2 weeks and the community will get to vote and decide what the 3rd map will be.

PUGS/PUBS:
We will be adding iDM as an option in #iPug. Thanks to spydee for coding this into sBOT. The pug will be 1 map and 20 minutes. It will give people an opportunity to practice for the tournament and test out some maps for this and future KOTR. Additionally we will have iDM on the pub for the weeks leading up to KOTR (iCTF primarily) but if people don't have time for a pug, catch a quick game on the pub: GlobalUnreal.com Presents: newnet - unreal://74.91.123.15:7777

Viridian was too congested so you replaced it with Male? Male will be spawn and die chaos.

Tempest is the most balanced deathmatch map in UT, but I voted Cityzen since it's the best choice that has a shot at getting picked.

Malevolence is horrible for KOTR playstyle..

If curse is at the last round (final) i am even less interested in this cup...Curse is so variable on how you spawn and your type of aim...

Cityzen is a good addition though.

But how do you keep the best spawnkilling spots?

Curse is probably the only map that cannot be as the final map lol i would even put it in the beginning.

Liandri has to be in, the ultimate ut99 classic and its the perfect because it is hard to reach 200 (on 2v2v2v2) but possible for many top notch players.

Viridian is also a must...One of the most played maps and one of the most awesome as well...

Malevolence is a no go for me lol i remember playing it on 4v4 iTDM and it was already too much.

You can't really mess around the most played maps because they are just better for iTDM lol I'm sure there are possible best maps for KOTR (american ones like thursday and pahgio) but i can assure you 100% cluster maps like Malevolence (my fav 1v1 map) aren't. Just the time you lose waiting for the elevator will be the lulz

Anyway imo you can mess on the final map list but don't put the map that is the less loved in the ut99 community I am pretty sure any other map (deck, liandri, stal, viridian) will be well received by most people.

stalwart was the final map last time.. imo it's nice to have a little bit of variation ..everyone wants the tournament to be tailored to suit them , Its just not possible to please everybody :<

IMO - Viridian didnt work that well last time with 10 people, It was the map with the most complaints too.
Liandri i enjoy but the top spawn point gets abused :<
Malevolence will work better than Viridian theres more areas to control, In 2v2v2v2 it feels much slower than viridian and stalwart imo.
Im not sure which map from the vote id like to see in there i enjoy Cityzen and Tempest but ive never tried the others in 10man idm before really

The tournaments just about having abit of fun and It proves who the best fragger is atm

considering your 'logic' last time for using the shittiest maps of them all in the final rounds is because you were 'cycling' them and thats why deck was first and curse and stalwart was last LAST time. Here we are again and we have the exact same map in round 1, and the same dogshit spawnkill maps in the final rounds. Looks like your 'logic' is nothing more than a thinly veiled biased maplist.
