I think fws in CTF is fun, but way too easy. FWS in TDM feels normal to me, but that's probably because that's how I learned to play weapons. In my opinion, I feel that FWS in CTF is too overpowered and should be reverted to normal switch speeds.

It is really discouraging to see you not even try it Timtim, and to dismiss every one as if they/ and their opinions do not matter. The entire UT community is maybe 200 - 250 players total. To alienate 20-40 of them is such a waste. Maybe cropping off 5 of them would be a good idea... those scumbags!

Make it an option. Ctf and TDM are very different game types and are not played the same. Even with Mlut dying (as always after a season ) You have gained 2-3 active people. There are others like my self who will give it a try and then disappear pending the next mlut.

What I don't understand is how you can ignore so many people, many of whom would actively play in upug if you started making it worth their while. I enjoy quite a bit, I have played every thing form ZARK to ig to weapons. I am not an elitist player that is scared of others improving or being scared to adjust my play style( i came from an automatic sniper mod for fuck sakes). I know that if I really wanted to I could easily become a monster( see the mlut where fws was used for evidence). I simply do not enjoy the flow, for the first time I can remember I was bored playing ctf last night. I would rather play IG, in which you have done amazing things.

Instead of uniting people you are creating a huge divide, one step forward 15 steps back. It seems like you really do not give a shit about people who play and want to play your mod. I would think some one who has/ is putting so much effort into making some thing, that you would want it used.

Could you not just make it an option and to see if people really want to play it?

just add another game type to upug. for example ctf and ctfnfws. I'm sure you will respond with " i know whats best" or "mlut scum dont deserve to have opinions " or " an elitist player who wants to hold people back" Or my favorite " you don't actively play it so I do not care what you think", which is horseshit considering I play either from the start of the pug or as a sub several times a month( why would I play more if i'm not enjoying it ?)

Just give it a try instead of being a dick to every single person in and outside of this thread (on this topic). Regardless of whether or not you actually give people what they want/ think they want, I wish you luck but I don't think you will achieve what you want( unified community) with out listening to the "people".

I am not sure why I am even trying other than I am naive and still have hope.

Dray, I loathe your existence but I think your post deserves a reply. I don't know enough about the weapons game mechanics to offer proper insight on this subject but at the moment it looks like lots want to try slower switch speeds and no one really seems opposed to it.

I was just thinking...newnet essentially operates on the client side, so someone who just switched to sniper could get a shot or two off before their switch is replicated to the other person and they can adjust their tactics, no?

I'm on my phone so I can't actually load UT and experiment

It doesn't really seem like anyone is oppose to having a slower switch speed from reading all the comments on this thread, Having the trans-weapon switch a little slower definitely rewards better positioned players, Hopefully newnet can be tweaked to test a slower switch speed to make the majority of players happier and hopefully bridge the gap for others to come pug newnet some more

you do realize i pugged for 3 weeks straight almost every night for multiple times a night and know what im talking about... every1 that pugs doesnt care about the weapon switch speed because they are already used to crap like ZP with tons of bugs... their standards were low to begin with and i refuse to play a competitive league with shitty settings... lets just change increase IG speed 10% and see the reaction u get from the community... thats exactly what ur doing here

I think there might be some programming issue preventing him from switching the speed back to normal.
