I have one idea to make this game more popular.
All we need is a nice video to promote the coming GU.iCTF league on YouTube.

Everyone of us will click on the video one time a day and refreshes the page 10-50 times even more if u want to.
Put in many tags and a big discription to the video and the video will have about 10-20k views within a week.
The video will appear for other YouTube users in the search list and related videos list.
And for me personaly, if I watch the promo video of the last season I want to play this game so bad.

Put in the discription the link on how to get UT and how to pug here.
I want leagues with 1000+ players, when we reached that we can even play for money.

Im pretty sure a couple of peeps here can arrange a video promotion which will cost not more than $30 im pretty sure and it will be promoted on YouTube.

Buying YouTube views is stupid and while I disagree with aspects of the post, I love your intentions. Community support and word-of-mouth can go a long way to promoting this game and this community. Tune into streams, watch vids and send out links for VODs and YT recaps. KOTR with 160 people playing and more watching will be a great opportunity to get some profile for this community. I have some ideas and I'm hoping that we'll have some people who are willing to put in some grunt work.

it would only be an idea of buying the views, on our own we could get seriously more than 20.000 views a week just by refreshing the page every day
and the video will appear for more people.

And if they see a video like the promo video of the last season they will probably get it.

i believe there is a site where u open the video and it automaticly refreshes and creates 1 autentic view, if u open about 10 tabs and keep ur pc on at night u'll rack up views pretty quickly.
i'll ask my friend, i believe he uses that for his youtube gaming network.

While it's a good idea on paper and your heart's definitely in the right place, inflating numbers will probably do more harm than good. It's much better to take a realistic approach and think about what can be done to ensure and sustain long term growth.

i used to watch the streams on campus because my connection at home sucked (bandwidth cap, fuck you rogers), and surprisingly I had people coming up to ask if I was watching ut. i think there's potential for a grassroots ut movement for anyone who's inclined to try a more proactive approach

I'd much rather see a promo video get views on its own merits by people who are actually interested in watching. Fake views aren't really going to help the community in the long run.

Most of my MLCTF Promo videos got more than a thousand views without any real effort. If community members shared these promo video links through more visible avenues (other forums/websites, social networks, IRC, email, etc.) reaching 10,000+ views would probably be feasible. I still don't know if those views would translate into more players joining the community, but it's certainly worth a shot. I know several "retired" players commented that seeing those promo videos made them want to play UT again.

If you can get a promo video to the front page of reddit you can get a ton of actual exposure to the kind of people who might actually join a league like this.

Well friends I think this is a great idea. I think an even better idea would be to have a tournament with over three hundred new players in it. We can get money from ASUS. I think that if PACO talks to them we can get at least seven million dollars from them.

Today on a quakelive stream with about 1000+ viewers i promoted a video from sonic "Point and click" saying skip to 20secs and see what UT is like.
a minute later the video had 50 more views and people thanked me cause I also told them at globalunreal.com you can get it for free.
