reminds me of the provinggrounds.com farewell somewhat. PG was easily my fav ladder site. great admins and staff.

Lot of history gone...

Clanbase was starting to decay for ut in the end of 2009 with the eminent death of the ladder. The cups were still ok at that time though.

Since 2013 CB was just lingering by thin threads...ladder absolutely dead, and cups basically dead. This was also the year i "quit" playing on clanbase

To me it is a shame since it had my initial steps on UT recorded and also the history of clans i clanwhored my entire jib life, not counting 90% of my UT wars...Once every year i'd go to these histories and giggled nostalgically through my path over the years...From the first cup i ever played with Xplod to the multiple cups and official wars followed. Those were sweet times. With or without the mistakes, the best years of UT for anyone who witnessed it.

GU came to replace a dying CB, hopefully for quite some time.

Unfortunate. Seems like it always comes back to money drying up. WorldOGL died this way too along with CAL & PG.

Just saw this on the front page of Hacker News. I had no idea clanbase was a big enough name for HN to recognize it like that. Most of the people commenting mentioned playing Quake and CS in their youth, but I did find one mention UT! And of course I was obligated to point him here.
