Given the collapse of the BF4 competitive community (the game's broken), I've been playing a lot of CS:GO lately, particularly with fellow GU community members like humpty, kylewins, acro, sovvie, sezco, etc. (Sorry to anyone I forgot!) While CS:GO is certainly a different type of FPS with a very steep learning curve, I'm having a lot of fun with the game so I thought I'd share a fun moment from last night's twitch stream of me playing some competitive MatchMaking with the other CEVO casters. These guys (and my GU homies) have been coaching me up for a while (i.e. carrying me) so they've seen most of my epic fails which explains their reaction to even the most pedestrian clutches.
For those who have never tried Counter-Strike, but may be interested, I was a big-time skeptic. I actually tried it way back when I first got into UT around 2001ish, but thought it was too slow and the shooting mechanics too off the wall to bother learning. (Plus I had UT at the time so who needs CS right?) Now don't get me wrong, obviously CS is no arena shooter and it doesn't hold a candle to the pace of UT, but it really is a fun experience once you get the hang of it and I encourage anyone at all curious to give it a GO (I like puns.). If you're interested in trying it out, feel free to hit me up on IRC or steam as it's infinitely more fun playing with friends who can show you the basics, and I promise you can't possibly be any worse at the game than I am.
