Looking at the input on their forums thusfar, there is already a very large contingency of 2k4 players wanting the same exaggerated scaling and floaty movement that turned most of us off to that game in the first place (particularly with respect to CTF). Many of them are pushing for ONS and vehicle CTF.
Sure that's fun for casual/pub gaming, but neither are competitively viable gametypes. I'm not trying to offend the 2k4 players out there. Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinions and I do respect that game from a purely deathmatch perspective (and DDOM was fun too), but there's no debating which game had the larger community and more longevity. For those of us wanting CTF, there is no substitute for UT99's scaling and mechanics. I just don't see this panning out the way we want it to as it will be difficult to find any common ground or agreement between the two sides (2k4 vs. UT99). Hopefully I'm dead wrong though, but we'll have to wait and see. I think the best any of us can do is offer as much feedback and input as we can and just see what direction they take the game.
