for all owners of G400

Troubleshooting? Tweaking? Configuration?

for all owners of G400

Postby rasta-man » Wed Nov 13, 2013 12:45 am

Well i wanna let you all know what will happen with this mouse in time and the owner must expect that and do not try to fix it.

i had my G400 in february this year and last week start to disconnect suddenly during game and i heared on my headset a short sound on win7.
this was happening not so often but after 2 days was a nightmare
i searched on google and i found that G400 has a major bug that will happen in all mice
the usb cable that comes out from the mouse will broke and will keep disconnects.
thas why after thousands of complains from customer LOGITECH took action an mde the G400S that will replace G400 and eliminate the bug

so for that LOGITECH made an extra support for the usb cable exactly after the cables is out from the mouse, check on the picture.
that point was exactly where my cable was broken so LOGITECH solution was correct.

my point is ,when your G400 will start disconnect DO NOT TRY TO :
-reinstall drivers
-reinstall windows
-change usb port
-try different driver
-etc
but get a.s.a.p. to the service and in most all cases they will replace it with G400S

for those who wants to buy G400 i advice to go for G400S and will not have this bug

all discussing about the bug

good luck with it!

I thought I read somewhere that the G400s had prediction. Is that true?

or you can open your old g400 and mod it yourself (considering the price of it, buying another one is not really an issue)

this is a known old problem which is very easy to fix if you just give it a try

this works for all g400 g500 g5 mx518 etc. etc.

2 possibilities to repair broken cable:

1. buy the cheapest logitech mice you find and use its cable to fix ur mouse (all logitech mice use the same cable)

2. open ur mice and cut the broken part of the cable (harder but cheaper then 1. method)

3. profit

Had the same problem with my g400, got replaced no problem though. At least you end up getting a brand new g400 every few months when it breaks. 8-)

I went through 3 of them (the old versions with prediction) in 6 months when they first came out. I think I was one of the first UT players to use this mouse, and I stopped buying them b/c of the cord issue.

The cord issue has plagued Logitech gaming mice since the mx518.

What are the differences between the g400s and the g400, besides the stronger cord? It looks uglier with that awful blue design, and I've heard the sensor is "upgraded".

Good post. Maybe make a mouse review thread, so peoples can look over and comment about mouses that are good/bad etc. ;)

we all know the g400 is a superior mouse compared to most but is anyone still using the g5 second version (sexy looking blue one). I heard it was one of the only laser mouses that had no built in/negative accel problems and no usb problems like the g500. Wonder why they stopped making them and started making these shit boxes like g500s. We need the g5 back!

On the g400 you can tell if you got a lowsens, like I have you have 6 months after you bought it til that problem appears, this is now my 2nd g400 since I started playing with it a year ago, and the one I have is slowly but surely starting to get that problem again, I already got a new g400s from logitech service but I don't like it, its a different sensor and I play worse with it.
Its a shame they dont build any g400 mice anymore. :|

Riven,

It's expensive, of course. But it's still out there.

I don't understand why Logitech doesn't work on fixing their cables. Most of the complaints they are getting from customers are because of the poorly made cables that the g400/g400s and the g500/s have which is giving the most problems. Once that braided cable the g500 has gets a small tear on it then it's almost a guarantee the mouse is going to disconnect/reconnect randomly and start giving problems. Modifying your mouse with another cable seems like a bit of a hassle.. Most ppl buy mouses and plug it in and play not opening it up and switching cables lol but here's the tut if anyone wants to try moding their mouse with another cable: http://www.overclock.net/t/1138037/fixi ... le-problem

logitech dont bother fixing their cables since most people cant figure out that they have guarantee and will just buy new 1 as some of you suggested in this thread. there are probably more people who buy new mice rather than send it to be fixed (in which case you will probably get a new 1 since logitech has 1 of the best customer services) and thats why this issue wont be fixed...
