MOUSE REVIEW THREAD

Postby Riven » Fri Nov 15, 2013 6:34 am

Hey everyone, I stole the idea from the g400 thread and will make a little "my top 3 mouse" review.

Image

In my opinion the best gaming mouse ever made for UT.
I very like it's shape. When I tried it, I converted from the G9 to the G400 and the first 2-3 days went awful with it... But after a week I hit more with it than with the G9 :)
Also its pretty cheap for a gaming mouse, it was 29.99€ in Germany. Now they dont build it anymore
I'm playing with it since January 2013 til now.

I do also like this mouse alot!
The best thing at it is the weight adjustment, you can put several weights in the mouse to make it heavier/lighter,
you can also change the case from it as you can see in the picture, I liked more the left one.
I've been playing with it from 2009 til January 2013.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is basically the same mouse as the G400, its just way older.
I used it from somewhere 2005 til 2007.

Mice I'm very interested to test out but havent done yet :

G500

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOUR TOP 3 FAVOURITE MICE ARE .

seems like all the people that used razers switched over to g400(s)
When I was deciding what mouse to sink my savings into a few years ago, it was around 50/50 (razer/steelseries vs logi). At that time G400 was barely mentioned.

That G400, so hot right now

Of what I have used:

1st. Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000
2nd. DAv2
3rd. WMO
4th. G400

None of them even come close to my comfort optical 3000. I hate the g400, so-so on the WMO, and if I had to use something other than the 3000, it would be the Deathadder again.

Easily the best mouse of all time:
Image

The Razer Diamondback Plasma (the original version, not the 3G version)
http://www.ign.com/articles/2005/08/09/ ... -plasma-le

I found this 8 year old mouse in storage a while back and was hitting everything with it for a few weeks, but I accidentally broke the scroll wheel so I went back to my DA. I could use it for IG but using one mouse for IG and another for weapons would be silly. Just as the article states, the Diamondback tracks perfectly on pretty much any surface, whereas newer mice (like the DA) will screw up if there are any inconsistencies on the mouse pad. If I can find another Diamondback or find a replacement scroll wheel for mine, I'll go back to it in a heartbeat.

As of the past few days, I'm back on my old-as-fuck DiamondBack with its cord spliced together in two places and missing scroll wheel. I also put some new "feet" on it. It just feels that much better than the DeathAdder. I looked for it online and found one on Amazon for $110 LOL. Fuck dat. (Although it may actually be worth that price given how good it is.) For weapons I guess I'll just have to move some binds off the scrollwheel and onto some keys. Or maybe I can figure out the exact part I would need for a new scroll wheel and solder that bitch on.

you could try to mod it with your old deathadder but its risky. i think scroll wheel and cable are similar

bought and tried the g500s the other day -- not sure if i like it. buttons on the left side of the mouse annoy me based on my hand placement. went back to the g5 which is smooth on the left side.

my mouse escapades over the years are as follows...

I used to own back in the day with a logitech mx310. Eventually, after oodles of frags, the left click gave out. I went out to the big box store and bought the latest and greatest logitech mouse, the mx1000 wireless. It completely sucked donkey balls for UT and any FPS in general. This was right around the time I got heavy into WoW so I basically said goodbye to UT and didn't look back for 6-7 years. Somewhere in between I had retired the mx1000 due to a fried battery that could not be recharged as well as a double-left click issue and bought an mx518 off ebay for like 12 AMERICAN DOLLARS from China. It was an obvious refurb, the S/N was blacked out and indentations were all over the glide pads like they had been removed. Playing random games like Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Starcraft II I used this until I came back to UT and realized it had some jitter issues. It is currently the mouse I use with my laptop when I go on trips as it's very robust and built like a tank.

With all of that being ancient-but-somewhat-still-relevant-history this is what I have experienced since coming back to the glorious video game we all know and love as UT99.

deathadder 3.5g, encountered a double left click problem about 9 months after I bought it, sent it in to be fixed and hasn't felt the same since even though it's "fully functional". Sits in my drawer as an emergency back-up.

g400 first gen - scroll wheel completely died out of the blue - rma'd for a new one, which was a..

..g400 second gen - The left click blew up while spamming to respawn in itdm one day. After some tinkering the left click was fixed using the right click from the 1st gen g400 (logitech didn't want it back) but it seems to have developed a jitter while making very slow movements, very noticeable in ms paint tests. I have yet to take it back apart to see if something is dirty or misaligned, now that it's in my mind that it jitters I don't think I could get it out.

deathadder 2013/4g - The jury is still out on this as I have had it for about 2 weeks, but the sensor seems much more precise than the 3.5g I used previously. The addition of the rubber side grips in place of the hard plastic seems like an improvement, and for most of the time it is. During hot and heavy game play you will encounter some slippage. I don't have super sweaty hands or anything like that (usually have cold hands like whitechoc) but I have noticed that I don't always have the greatest hold on the sides of the mouse when making quick movements. Perhaps I just need to break the rubber in a little bit more, but even the condensation from a bottle of water or a can of mtn. dew will have the same effect. I will say that when your hands are dry and clean you get a really good grip on the rubber.

I have access to more basic mice like a 1.1 m$ intellimouse and even the m$ comfort optical 3000 but just can't bring myself to think they'll be an improvement over all of my supposed "gaming mice"

Currently have a g500s hopefully in the mail, depending on if Newegg gets their ass in gear and mails it this week or next month..

TimTim, i tried the Diamondback 3G 4 years ago and i didnt like it at all, had to return it.
Edo played with it back then and was dominating the sniperscene.

I might get a g500 on holidays and test it out :)
