auto dodging problem

Postby unrealshots » Sun Dec 22, 2013 8:09 am

I dunno if anyone else has this issue but the past 2-3 weeks everytime I play a game if I tap in any direction foward/back/left/right just 1 TAP of a key i go dodging in that direction...

I've tried different Unreal tournaments and UT inis user inis different renders... keyboards different USB ports even different keys on 2 different keyboards, restarting multiple times adding retarded numbers to dodgeperclick. Downclocked my PC to see if that was an issue but none of that has fixed it.
But anyway was hoping maybe someone has found a way to fix this issue because it makes me not want to play UT anymore..

This has been my biggest issue for the past year or so.

My playstyle is based largely by movement setting up my shots. I miss these shots a lot due to dodging 3x in 2/3 seconds... all of the time.

I've tried different keyboards, keys, USB's, plug sockets, ini's... the works. It is literally the most frustrating UT issue that I've come across and one of the reasons I find the game a lot less enjoyable nowadays.

switched renders or something shots? its weird that you suddenly have this problem if you did not change anything, since if it was something with nn/server probably a lot more people would complain about it happening to them. i had a few occasions where i auto dodged (like when i fell in semi finals off of DS lmao) but nothing constant. no mechanical keyboard here (MS COMFORT CURVE 3000).

Could increasing dodgeclick time in your ini file help?

Your lean big muscled fingers combined with a robust and firm hand from a life dedicated to hand-jobbing probably don't help!

LOOOOL

I sometimes have the same problem, but i tend to quickly ignore and then forget about it lol

try a mechanical one, ask ampenergy for a sponsorship :D

I have a mechanical keyboard, the Logitech G110. I auto dodge on that as much as I do my 10 year old, standard keyboard.

Maybe it is a software issue outside of UT? Could be another process in the background or something that is affecting things.

It's a CPU timing issue, I believe. Certain ACE settings worsen it.

Perhaps you who suffer from this problem have Speed Step or something enabled? Try disabling everything that changes your clock speed dynamically in the BIOS and in your drivers and see if the problem persists.

I also consistently auto-dodge at the worst times. Usually happens more often when I circle strafe and hit the arrows keys very rapidly, but has occured at the drop of a hat on the edge of a walkway in Command, leading to an untimely acid bath. It occurs excessively while online on any server, pugs or pubs. Happens occasionally in a LAN game with ACE/UTpure/SmartCTF installed but no zp or NN. Does not occur in UT3 and I have not encountered any issues with any other game, which leads me to believe it is not my keyboard. Having said that, I have tried a few different keyboards and USB ports on my rig to completely rule out the hardware side.
If it is happening on almost every single key press a complete restart will usually help, but the problem comes back 5-10 minutes into a match, with varying degrees of severity. It seems to happen more in tdm, but my movements are also quite a bit more rapid and erratic compared to ctf. I use my strafing movements to line up a lot of horizontal shots and randomly side dodging (I would say well over half or more is a side dodge for me) just completely throws my shot off and usually leads to getting an ig beam to the face. This is not a random problem for me, I have noticed it for well over a year and have consistently whined and bitched and moaned about this issue, as well as rapid firing or not firing at all when respawning.

my rig at various stages, auto-dodging has occured consistently throughout upgrading

Mobo - Asus M4A78T-E

CPU - Phenom II x4 965 BE @ 3.4ghz (stock) - also was happening on an Athlon II x3 unlocked to a quad core @ 3.2ghz

GPU - Sapphire 7790 1gb dual-x OC w/ latest and greatest drivers - also was happening on a Sapphire 5770 Vapor-X

Keyboard(s) - old ps/2 mechanicals from the mid to late 90's and early 00's to brand new wrapped-in-the-box usb and ps/2 keyboards straight from HP - i get auto dodges using any keyboard

Mice - Razer DA 3.5g and 4g (2013)
Logitech g400x2, g400s, g500s, mx518 - I get auto dodges using any mouse with and without drivers

I have switched .ini's, renders, mouse settings, graphical settings, CCC settings, almost everything in an effort to get this to stop. I'm up for suggestions. :x
