.ini help

Postby KNOCKOUTDAD » Thu Jul 05, 2012 5:02 pm

so i'm looking for advice or steps in the right direction of fixing my .ini woes...i realize everyones settings are different as everyone has a different collection of specs or what not pc wise...my problem is using the stock chickens-ut and ini i notice i get alot of "hiccups" or slight freezes which really can throw you off if your already moving or avoiding getting hit...another issue is my resolution it seems if i use the max resolution my frames go pretty much in the 15-20's or if i run it at 640x480 or 800x600 the shots of one way of putting it seem to be way outta focus (not appearing on my screen where im shooting) i have updated all the pc drivers and im using d3d9 and playing at 60 rr i would like to be able to play the game but have it look pretty as well but the pc is pretty garbage so i will settle for whatever i can consistency get used to that i wont have to worry about hitches or shots appearing in random places.

Chickens ini's suck asshole. I'd ask rootsoft or possibly n0b for help maybe(MAYBE I don't really know) a early version of opengl would be better for you maybe 2.6 and possibly another persons ut inis.

What is your FPS limit set at? When I had my refresh rate at 60 and set my max frames at 60 it would hitch constantly in maps with textures like in Acrony/Duku. I figured that setting would act as a poor man's V-sync but it caused nothing but hitching. Enabling the real V-sync causes my mouse to feel like it's stuck in molasses. I then switched my max frame limit to 120 and it plays like glass; very smooth.

However, I use openGL with utglr36 @ 1920x1080 - When I was looking for a new monitor I remember reading that switching out of an LCD monitors preferred resolution can cause output delay. Like if it defaults to 1920x1080 (16:9 ratio) for everything and you play at 1024x768 (4:1 ratio). In UT this is a killer, where half a second can make or break a cap..hell even making simple shots is difficult.

edit - If that's onboard video then GL - most don't play games worth a shit, even older games run pretty bad - had a dual core with onboard vid that struggled with CoD 2 :|

I have a huge ini pack that I can upload. Not sure if people would like/use them but there are 100's of different configs from an assortment of players. Tony how does your computer run? I remember rummy had a nice config when I was on bad PC or if you want my settings, I can send you them as well.

frames capped was originally 60..but was 75 when i checked and yea i know onboard is pretty garbage but holding out for a sliver of hope on getting this to work i changed my res to match my lcd's native resolution it doesent play too bad just not sure if i should have to beef up performance somewhere else

udemo + opengl settings. if you get an error when trying to demo you'll need to replace udemo.udemodriver with whatever is in that spot in the default.ini. I use some kind of enhanced textures too, I don't know if that affects anything.
