UTchickenfix vs. CPL vs. MarkC

Postby Junkyardboy » Thu Dec 06, 2012 1:21 pm

Reason I'm starting this thread is because I've been using CPL mouse fix FOREVER, maybe used chicken fix for a little bit. Last week or so since I started playing more, I couldn't really figure out why I stuck with CPLmousefix to begin with in the first place so I started trying other mouse fixes. Now I'm testing out utchickenmousefix and I find that it works slightly better than CPLmousefix.

TL;DR What mousefix are you using to remove acceleration?

P.S I still use windows xp

I think that is an ignorant philosophy. Don't you think you could be better?

I don't think that's an ignorant philosophy- If someone is used to mouse accel or prefers to use it, than a mouse fix could hurt their gameplay more than help it. I know that sorn, for example, likes using mouse accel and has the best sniper in weapons CTF.

For most newer players, though, I recommend using a mouse fix to remove accel. It lets you improve your aim quicker, as the correlation between your mouse movements and the amount your chair moves will be consistent.

Highly experienced players (like sorn) have had many years to adjust to the variability of mouse accel, hence why they can aim consistently while using it. Also, many of them have developed such amazing reflexes that they could probably adjust to almost anything.

I'm using this one for win xp

http://razerblueprints.net/index.php/Vi ... elFix.html

Dont know the official name. Virus scanners detect is because it messes around with some win32 files but you can ignore that

I have a wooden chair, it doesn't move

And i've played without accel for months on end, but as soon as i use accel i get 30-40% better instantly

Just saw the thread. CPL fix is poop, my fix is OK, and MarkC's is the best.

With Windows pointer speed set to the 6th notch out of 11* and this fix, you will get exact 1:1 mouse input/output which is what you want. The difference with Mark C is that it not only does that for UT and others, but it does it for some rare games that force "enhanced pointer precision" ON in windows causing accel to happen when my "fix" wouldn't solve it apparently and I'm not sure if mine will work on Windows7/8. MarkC's also has "emulated" settings if for whatever reason you wanted Windows 98 mouse feel, Windows 2000 etc. Just make sure you choose the correct DPI when you apply the fix and that your windows pointer speed is on 6/11* notches.

<Tim> it's going to be the same speed in all gametypes <Tim> adjust your playstyle accordingly

Does anyone have the win7 MarkC mouse fix? I just realized I don't think I've ever installed it since I upgraded to win7.

edit.. Nevermind found it in the googles.

I tried them all like crazy this past month and have come to conclusion:

CPL > MarkC > UTchickenfix

They are all good, however my preference is still CPL.

Why? It gives you just the right amount of acceleration to make all your shots. It's supposedly minimal/not noticeble accel, but it's boss.

Highly recommend CPL
