Bake your mother board at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, add flour and lots of love.

Hello peeps.
First post in my usual style.
...Geeky :geek:

You often get no help from crash report tools, if you see a BSOD, as everything just stopped.

You seem to have tried almost everything regarding hardware.
I'll run through a few extra things I can think of.

I would check the metal risers that you screw the MoBo onto, are not shorting-out.
If you have the little washers with the kit, always use them.

Disconnect everything except the GFX card and keyboard, CPU and 1 stick of RAM.
See if it still crashes sitting on the boot or BIOS screen.
If it does then the MoBo is f*cked. Simple.
The only options you have left like that, are a faulty CPU or RAM.
...or,
I assume you have looked for a BIOS update ?

Most components on modern circuit-boards are "surface-mount". Unless you have a steady hand and plenty of practice, you should never attempt repairs. The average hobbyist soldering-iron is not suitable.

If this Mobo was used at the previous house, then damage could have been done then.
*That reminds me*
Something you can all do with no training (as long as you can wire a plug), is make your own surge-protectors.
Fit a "Mains Transient Suppressor" in you plugs or extension cables.
UK price, 74p from Maplin http://www.maplin.co.uk/transient-suppressor-mov-499
You may need to trim the legs to fit your plug, but the legs just screw in with the positive and negative wires.
If the voltage goes above the rated value, the excess gets sent straight back down the negative wire.
For those with a soldering iron, I recommend opening the device or power-pack, and soldering directly onto the end of the cable, or on the transformer.

I have assembled a collection of diagnostic and tweak tools for drivers and Windows. You may find them useful.
http://my.opera.com/Unreal-Tournament/b ... ak-windows
Some of the tools can give you overlay info during gaming, so you can skip the issue of logging temps and speeds etc.
Some of the tools allow portable computers to overcome lack of support or tweakability.

Good luck with the new MoBo.

Oh yeah, those. I use them, of course. I'll find out more about the problem when my new mobo arrives :)

I'd say it's your mobo. Had the same issue too with my old 680i board.

Hmm, I thought I just made a post here, but it disappeared.

I installed the new motherboard, but my computer refuses to POST. Fans are working, but there are no beeps (no digital display on the board either, which could have shown an error code)

I've checked the seating for the 8-pin and 24-pin power connectors. Gonna try a few times and see if I can get that muthatrucka working. I seriously hope I didn't damage the CPU or the socket while installing the CPU... That would be burn

your motherboard might need flashing (assuming all parts are working)

I will flash the motherboard once everything is operational. Found the cause of the refusal to POST... Memory modules in the wrong sockets :?
On my old motherboard they were supposed to be in the white sockets, but on this they have to be in the blue. I was troubleshooting for some hours before I dropped my manly act and checked the manual.

Contrary to popular belief, the destructions are quite helpful sometimes. :D
