Negative acceleration

Postby keung » Tue Mar 19, 2013 10:05 am

Hey guys! Do any of you have any suggestion on how to remove negative acceleration? Ever since I swapped motherboards I've had negative acceleration and I haven't been able to figure the cause of it. I've installed the MarkC fix, but I actually asked him about it because I had negative accel on my old install and he said that his fix cannot do anything about that. From what I remember negative acceleration is caused by the windows cursor hitting the edges of the screen before recentering itself, but my dpi is 400 and my windows sensitivity is very low, so I cannot see why that should be the problem.

Any suggestions, kind folks?

change windows/ut resolution

increase ut frame rate

unplug and reconnect your mouse

smash it against the wall and get a new one

say what mouse you have and upload your inis to see if someone else gets the same issue

@ uenz: I've been using 6/11 for years :D I checked what notch it was on before writing the OP and it was on 6/11

@ tigerclaw: Resolutions are 1080p in both windoze and UT. Framerate is 120 (as I BenQ all the way). I think it should be fine. However, smashing the mouse in a wall is a good suggestion, I might try that :D I haven't been arsed to play around with my computer the past few days, but I'm going to try a different mouse. I have a Razer Taipan, I don't know why I got it. Every time I've bought a Razer mouse there's been an issue with it. It's probably the mouse in this case :p

@ Keith: Thanks! I'll ask Serenity :)

Edit: noobx said GU should open a Help subforum because of me. Maybe you should PACO! ;)

increase your fps to 167 and use ace highperf

ut can cause negative accel as it cannot keep up with the mouse

also try changing your poll rate/DPI/UT sens and axis speed, like drastically changing them, but so you have the same sort of cm/180 you are used to

you can also get poor tracking on some surfaces, maybe try a different mouse mat(if you have one) or use your desk for a quick test

there's always the g400 ;D

What is exactly negative acceleration? Never heard of it before today.. and tbh, I don't even understand the term.. It's like saying you're going at negative speeds -- not really possible to go forward at -50mph

BTW - I wouldn't get Deathadder. It is just problem after problems for me with my current Deathadder and my previous one. I am never buying another Deathadder again.

Negative accel is like your mouse get stuck at some point that it goes slower than it should be, the opposite of positive accel

Negative acceleration is deceleration, or in other words, acceleration in the opposite direction of velocity. (remember acceleration is a change in velocity)

If you are traveling in a car at 50mph and accelerate to 60mph in 5 seconds your acceleration is 2mph/s. This is positive acceleration.
If you are traveling in a car at 50mph and slow down to 40mph in 5 seconds your acceleration is -2mph/s. This is negative acceleration.

With mice:
No acceleration means that if you move your mouse 1in. it will always move the same distance in game.
Positive acceleration means that if you move your mouse 1in. it will move some inconsistent distance greater than it would without accel.
Negative acceleration means that if you move your mouse 1in. it will move some inconsistent distance less than it would without accel.

Negative acceleration is usually very difficult to notice and only becomes an issue when whipping your mouse around really fast.

It is based on speed, I said inconsistent for simplicity.

To correct negative accel you have to force vsync off in your graphics card settings( only for Ut)
