sound card wont help much if at all in UT, must use 2.1 or something cuz I tell no difference with my soundcard. Put in a newer game like CS:GO though and the difference is drastic.

I have an Asus Xonar DX. Would not recommend.

It sounds great, does its job etc. But the drivers and software are shit. I don't get bugs or anything like that too often but it lacks features you would expect from an add-on soundcard. For example to switch from the backpanel audio jack to the front panel audio jack I have to open the control panel and change the designated port. This is something that even onboard audio does automatically and I find inexcusable.

I've always read that the ASUS drivers are superior but the FPS positioning accuracy in the high end creative series is better than the ASUS cards.

Anyone try the Creative Z series cards yet?

Depends on your budget

I play both Xbox and PS3 along with PC, so my needs dictated that I get a headset that works for all 3

If you have the money, I would suggest investing in the Astro A50 wireless headset. It retails around 300 bucks, but you can play all 3 platforms and the sound quality is amazing to say the least.

ie. in Cod, I can hear footsteps one or two floors above my location (unless they have the ninja perk active)

In UT, I can hear footsteps, their direction, and boots/pads from farther distances than that of the GameCom headset that I was using

I can also walk from my computer location downstairs, up to my bedroom/bathroom at the far corner of my house, outside on my deck, all without degrading the sound quality (which is a concern that most have for moving from a conventional headset to a wireless headset system) or losing signal.

In short, this headset is beast.

i bought the siberia v2 headset about 8 months ago, so far its been very nice. It is extremely comfortable for me and the flexible, storable microphone is very nice and seems nearly impossible to break off. My only complaint would be that the cord seems to have a natural "memory" of wanting to twist up
