Semi Finals

Postby Morpheus » Mon Dec 16, 2013 1:17 pm

Reaching semi finals is something few people ever get to reach. I think the best of 3 is not the best strategy. Not the first time i feel like i could have turned the tables on my semi finals.

I'd say make it best of 5. Only 4 teams ever reach it and we should assure the best team gets to the final. I've seen many games turned from 2-0 to 3-2. If you have bad luck on the first map and it happens to be your map, you are doomed to lose the other because its the other team's pick.

My opinion as a guy who has played best of 5's and best of 3's.

bo5 sounds like a good idea; there are only 2 semi-finals so bo5 would make it more interesting to play/watch.

voted b05, this is the standard in almost any semi-finals at any tournament and comebacks can happen.

I don't think there's anyone who doesn't like watching the best teams square off, but I especially like this idea because it makes playoff seeding actually important. Map order in a best of 5 is very important whereas it's not at all in a best of 3. However it's already hard enough to save 2 good maps for the finals; please bring back some of the old maps or add even more new ones if you are gonna increase playoff games and therefore increase map eliminations

Should be best of 5 with a slightly bigger mappool. No old turtlemaps

I fully agree with best of 5. Especially with overtime being considerably less now a days.

I think it's especially important if you have semi-finals where 2 '1st seeds' tee off against one another - like this season. You should have the opportunity to beat them under the same conditions as you would have had in the final, since meeting them at that stage is down to luck of the draw rather than your group finishing position.

Update; As long as the head admins for leagues don't disagree (naturally they have the right to veto) - semi finals will now be best of 5.

Congratulations.
