CTF-Byproduct]I[

CTF-Byproduct]I[

Postby TimTim » Sun Mar 09, 2014 5:23 am

So when the ice storm the other day destroyed like... half the city I live in... I had no internet and was unable to do any real work, so being stuck inside, I figured I'd make the best of it and work on this map I've had my eye on for a while now.

The original map was called CTF-FoT-Byproduct][ if you'd like to google it for comparison, but this was a major edit that took over 12 hours to complete. Props to the original author for the inspiration and excellent structure. It wasn't originally symmetrical but luckily parts of it already were, so it made things a little easier to align. There was also a basement area that I removed.

I'm too lazy to upload screenshots or videos right atm, but it's on servers now so check it out. I'll probably upload a video clip or two for it tomorrow, namely of the boost you can do to land on the boxes and make it from one high side to the other.

I expect it to be somewhat fast-paced and very teamwork oriented. There are multiple routes with plenty of opportunities to juke, but it should also be fairly easy to deduce a flag carrier's general location with plenty of cut off points if you know the angles.

Enjoy!

Any tips from other mappers for optimizing the framerate in the middle here? My guess is too much trim everywhere and too many things visible within the line of sight. If anyone has any ideas or tricks to improve the framerate in the middle, I'm all ears!

Please delete the ambient sound on this map. It is incredibly loud in some places and annoying as hell.
