NW Duel Cup (Europe)
Posted: Thu Apr 03, 2014 6:18 pmThis tournament is a double elimination bracket format for 32 players. If the demand is there, the tournament will be opened up for more. It is open to both European and North American players however all games will be played on European servers.
Game settings will be as follows for this tournament:
Timelimit: 15 minutes
Powerups: On
Weaponstay: Off
ForceRespawn: On
Demos must be recorded for ALL matches that are played in this tournament, no exceptions, no excuses. Anybody incapable of recording a demo, or not being able to provide a demo will be removed from the tournament. All demos of the winning participant are to be uploaded and attached to the match on the bracket tree using the attachments feature no later than the start of their next game, no exceptions, no excuses. Players can also use the attachment feature to attach screenshots.

Signups open until 26/4/2014, provisional start date 27/4/2014.
Scheduling for this tournament will be reflected by the bracket tree. Each round represents a match week (running Sunday through until Saturday). Each game can be played within the desired match week or if scheduled with an admin, within the prior match week, for example if two players are due to face each other in the next match week and want to play their match as they have already progressed through to that round of the tournament this is at the players' own discretion (please provide details of match times for streaming and coverage purposes). As above, this is also subject to demos being uploaded of the previous match. If players want to continue with the cup on a 1-day format, then this can be done. For example completing the games up to and including the Grand Final on 27/4/2014 will be possible.
Each game will be scheduled between the two players. Any issues with scheduling should be escalated to one of the ops in #Globalunreal.eu to rectify. Due to the scale of the tournament, there will be a 30 minute window for each game to be started from the scheduled start time. In the event of a no-show this will require authorisation again from one of the ops in #Globalunreal.eu - not showing up to your matches without prior communication will not be tolerated.

Just to say a thank you to everyone for donating so far. The intention is to make this cup as exciting as possible and with the opportunity of prize money we are hoping it will attract both the best players and coverage for this tournament. We currently have a donation page set up if any players wish to donate please speak to sas^bleh- or batonix, there is no minimum requirement for donations and it is all very much welcome and appreciated.
Prizes will be distributed across the top 3 players as follows:

After discussions with our good friend m3ss he has agreed to provide as much coverage as he can for this tournament. By now most people know him and he needs no introduction. After trying to convince hypno to sign up he has told me he is going to dedicate his time to the upcoming UT2k4 Duel competition, but would infact be very happy to Shoutcast some games. I'm expecting this to be a great duo. Coverage will be decided by the match schedule, I will also try and open a weekly poll through the week with votes on which matches players would most like to see. Nobody likes watching a game based on popularity so coverage will reflect the games that best display this gametype. Coverage for the final 16 players will be based on seedings and voting. If anyone is able to provide any further coverage in the form of streams they are more than welcome to.
